I know how important it is to choose the right place, to make your trip the best experience it can be.
That means your campsite needs to have all the essentials plus the perfect location - whether it’s a peaceful, picturesque spot or somewhere lively, close to the best restaurants and pubs.

Fort William is the biggest town in the area and extremely popular, especially in summer and sites can fill up fast. Be sure to book your Fort William campsite well in advance.
All of the Fort William campsites are at least a 10-minute drive to the nearest shop, so stock up in advance.
In summer, midges are a problem in the Scottish Highlands and that includes Fort William. I recommend you bring midge repellent spray, a midge repel lamp for inside, and a midge net for outside.

1. Glen Nevis Campsite - AKA - Ben Nevis Campsite
Best for: Highland scenery, Ben Nevis, and easy access to Fort William.
Location: Glen Nevis
Price per night: tents from £12 / tourers from £22
This sprawling Fort William campsite is located in the heart of Glen Nevis, amongst beautiful Highland scenery. There’s something for everyone here - glamping pods, spacious campervan pitches, and dedicated grassy fields for campers.
This is also the best Ben Nevis campsite, being only a few hundred meters from the start & end point of the UK’s highest mountain.
Glen Nevis Campsite is pretty enormous, with multiple fields for tents (electric hook up is optional) and heaps of pitches for campervans & motorhomes. However, pitches are spacious and the site is surrounded by beautiful highland views, with mountains all around.
It’s also one of the friendliest Fort William campsites we visited, and for that reason is my top pick.
Facilities are excellent, with plenty toilet and shower blocks dotted around the site.
Plus, there’s a restaurant, bar, playpark, restaurant, and well stocked shop onsite. If you’re looking to visit Fort William town centre, it’s either a short bus ride (10-mins) or walk (45-mins).
Finally, this Fort William campsite is absolutely perfect for those walking the West Highland Way, which passes by the site. It’s also perfectly placed for hiking Ben Nevis and visiting nearby beautiful Steall Waterfalls.
2. Ben Nevis Holiday Park
Best for: relaxed park with great facilities plus great location.
Location: Fort William
Price per night: tents from £14 / tourers from £32
Ben Nevis Holiday Park is one of the best Fort William campsites for easy access into town. Located only a 5-minute drive from the town centre, there’s also a handy bus and nearby cycle route.
The site itself combines holiday park facilities with a relaxed campsite vibe, and it’s a lovely place to stay. This Fort William campsite is both family and pet-friendly, and there’s lovely riverside walks within the grounds.
Because this is a holiday park, you’ll find a mix of accommodation, like lodges, a dedicated tent field with optional electric hook-up, and spacious campervan/motorhome pitches. Plus, there’s a small cafe onsite too.
Be aware that the name of this campsite is somewhat misleading - it’s not the closest site to the mountain it takes it name from. In fact, if you’re looking for a Ben Nevis campsite, then you’ll want the first site on this list.
3. Bunroy Park
Best for: peaceful campsite with gorgeous views.
Location: Roy Bridge, nr Fort William
Price per nights: tents from £15 / tourers from £26
Bunroy Park is one of the Fort William campsites I love for a rural stay.
It’s a small, family-run site surrounded by pretty woodland, with far-reaching views over acres of beautiful countryside. In fact, you have views all the way to the Nevis mountain range.
The focus at Bunroy Park is staying amongst nature, and the site is incredibly peaceful. Although it’s located outside of town (around a 30-minute drive to Fort William), don’t be put off - there’s a regular train from the nearby station straight into the town.
The site itself has a good amount of hard standing pitches for campervans & motorhomes, and three dedicated areas for tents (two pitches have electric hook-up). Plus, there’s great facilities like hot showers (the cleanest showers we’ve seen, though very few of them), laundry, and a communal fridge/freezer.
If you’re looking for a peaceful and cosy Fort William campsite, this might be the best option for you.
4. Linnhe Lochside Holidays
Best for: peaceful holiday park, family friendly, and waterfront location.
Location: Corpach, nr Fort William
Price per night: tents TBC / tourers from £34
Situated only a 10-minute drive from the centre of town, you’ll feel miles away from the hustle & bustle in this peaceful Fort William campsite.
Onsite there’s great facilities, plenty of hot showers, and a small shop.
However, the best thing about this Fort William campsite is Linnhe Lochside’s waterfront location. Situated on the banks of Loch Eil, there’s a slipway with easy access to the water and private beach. So, if you want to swim, canoe, SUP, or have a beach BBQ, then you’ll love this Fort William campsite.
Campervan pitches are hard standing, level, and spacious, with views over the water. Whilst campers can pitch their tents in handful of incredible locations - either by the beach or a secluded woodland.
And though there’s no electricity for tents, campers will absolutely love the combination of wild camping with access to hot showers and loos.
5. CAOLASNACON CAMPSITE
Best for: stunning waterfront location.
Location: Kinlochleven, between Fort William & Glencoe
Price per night: tents from £21 / tourers from £33
Strictly speaking, this isn’t a Fort William campsite - but it is located between Fort William and Glencoe, so it’s a great option if you’re looking to visit both places.
It’s the most remote campsite on our list and the biggest draw here is the idyllic view - Caolasnacon Campsite is located right on the water and surrounded by rolling mountains.
This campsite isn’t bookable in advance, simply turn up and pick a spot. Be warned that though there are some pitches with electricity, they’re on a first-come-first-served basis. Otherwise, this site has all the necessary facilities.
Combining good shower and toilet facilities with a wilderness feel, you’ll love the relaxed vibe and views.
