10 Best Hotels In Glencoe, Scotland
Whether you’re looking for a luxury stay or cosy, low-key B&B, my top picks for hotels in Glencoe is here to help you book your dream Scottish Highlands trip:
Glencoe Village
Glencoe village is the small and charming village at the south end of Loch Leven. This is where you’ll find the majority of cafes, restaurants, and pubs, including the Clachaig Inn.
It’s also the starting point of the much loved Glencoe Lochan walk and the iconic Pap of Glencoe hike, and it’s the first stop after the famous glen with its wonderful viewpoints. So it’s an excellent option for first time visitors to Glencoe and outdoor fans alike.
It’s also where you’ll find some of the best accommodation in Glencoe, from luxurious options to a wide variety of cosy guest houses and hostels.
1. The Glencoe Inn
The Glencoe Inn seamlessly blends cosy Highland charm with urban sophistication. Choose from a range of rooms, including deluxe doubles and family bunks. In the evening, enjoy locally inspired dishes in one of the four eateries on offer - personally, I love the stone clad Steak & Lobster bistro. After, unwind in the friendly bar overlooking Loch Leven. Or elevate your stay with a trip to the thermal garden spa.
2. Beechwood Cottage B&B
Located in the heart of Glencoe village, the very cute and highly rated Beechwood Cottage B&B is the ideal small stay for travellers seeking homely accommodation in Glencoe. Boasting mountain views and rural village location, guests can soak up the stunning local scenery from the inviting garden. Plus, trails at Glencoe Lochan and Pap of Glencoe are within an easy walk. Choose from double, twin, and deluxe rooms, with a hearty breakfast included.
This is the luxury hotel in Glencoe, offering five-star service in timeless accommodation that boats awesome views of the loch and village. The suites are spacious and elegantly furnished and best of all, dinner is served each night at your very own candlelit dining table. Glencoe House Hotel is the perfect option for travellers looking a tranquil atmosphere and luxe experience.
Ballachulish Village
Situated at the north end of Loch Leven, Ballachulish is often considered by visitors as part of Glencoe - though they are separate. However, the walk between both villages is an easy 25-minute stroll that follows the banks of pretty Loch Leven.
Ballachulish is home to the areas only supermarket, a wonderful patisserie, friendly pub, decent chip shop, and a handful of other amenities. Much like Glencoe, the scenery is breathtaking plus there’s the best view of the Pap of Glencoe.
This village is further out from the valley and its popular hikes, so take that into account when planning your stay.
4. Isles of Glencoe Hotel
Nestled at the tip of Loch Leven, this boutique Glencoe hotel is a strong contender for “best view”.
Overlooking both the loch and Pap of Glencoe, it’s a truly breathtaking location and the private gardens are my favourite spot for a G&T on a sunny afternoon. Rooms are light filled and bright, with modern tones and heaps of space.
Plus guests can relax in the bar, eat delicious freshly prepared food in the restaurant, and enjoy the onsite swimming pool & sauna. This hotel in Glencoe is one to truly relax in after a day of exploring the Scottish Highlands.
A small hotel just outside of Glencoe, Loch Leven Hotel offer both Scottish themed rooms and modern pods (read my review here). Located over the water in North Ballachulish, you’ll need a car to drive between the village, cafes, and hotel - but those looking for a peaceful small stay will love the mountain views and waterside location. The onsite restaurant and cosy bar are equally wonderful, serving delicious, hearty food by the roaring fire.
Remote & Peaceful
Arguably, all accommodation in Glencoe is remote and peaceful. Even the options listed in the heart of either village are guaranteed to provide breathtaking views and wild landscapes.
However, those seeking the darkest skies, or a degree of isolation, should consider these accommodation options:
6. The Clachaig Inn
Tucked away on a narrow single-track road, The Clachaig Inn is a Highland institution. And the cosy Boots Bar and restaurant serving hearty, Scottish dishes are a must visit. The Clachaig Inn also offer cosy and comfy accommodation in Glencoe’s remote glen.
Nestled beneath towering mountains, it is a breathtaking location and guests will love the close proximity to both Glencoe Lochan and Pap of Glencoe.
The stunning Kingshouse Hotel sits completely alone on the edge of Rannoch Moor, in a dramatic spot overlooking iconic Buachaille Etive Mòr. Expect to see stags roaming in the gardens and feel a real connection to the wilderness and beauty that is Glencoe. Rooms range from cosy to more luxurious signature options, the restaurant serves delicious Scottish dishes, and the bar is a lively spot for guests and walkers alike.
8. Highland Croft B&B
Situated a few miles outside of Glencoe, right on the waterfront, reviews of Highland Croft B&B are excellent. With special mention of the hearty breakfast and friendly owners, guests also love the simple but cosy rooms.
And, of course, the cute animals that share this working croft! The real winner though is the location - with views over Loch Leven and the surrounding mountains, this small stay delivers big on a serene and homely experience.
Perched on the outskirts of Ballachulish, the luxury Skyfall Glencoe is a blend of hotel and luxury apartment. The first floor suite features a double bedroom, separate living room with dining area and kitchen facilities, and en-suite bathroom with a tub. Best of all is the balcony with gorgeous loch views. Perfect for travellers seeking an elegant home-from-home.
10. Ardno House B&B
With only two double bedrooms, Ardno House B&B offers an intimate and cosy stay in a more rural spot just beyond Glencoe. Rooms are comfy and spacious, with private bathrooms. Guests can unwind in the shared lounge or spend the evening watching sunset from the garden with its loch views.
