This Portree eatery specialises in modern Scottish cuisine. The dishes reflect Skye’s amazing larder, using the best produce from sea and land - the meat, seafood, veg, and even cheese are all locally sourced.
For a real treat, order the Skye seafood platter, though there’s plenty of choice for everyone on the varied menu. Plus an excellent wine and cocktail menu, as well as local whiskies and gins.
This restaurant in Portree is one of the cosiest and upstairs you’ll find the lovely Bosville Hotel.
Be warned, from experience of eating here I know it can get busy and I highly recommend you book a table in advance.
There’s no arguing that Birch rightfully earns its place the best spot for coffee in Portree.
Alongside their coffee, Birch is also one of the absolute best places for brunch or lunch. Though more cafe than restaurant, they serve a small but delicious menu and the food is mouth-wateringly good. Dishes like scrambled eggs, chorizo, and parmesan on sourdough rank as one of the most delicious lunches I’ve ever eaten.
Also, the cinnamon buns are truly scrumptious!
If it looks busy, don’t worry - you can take coffee and bites away and enjoy by the harbour.
